One of the greatest promises we declare.... "But my God
shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory
by Christ Jesus". (Philippians 4:19)
That
was a letter to the church of Philippians that Paul wrote
while he was in prison. It's the only church that Paul seemed
to have a special relationship where we see how he expressed
and rejoiced at their liberality. Phi 4:1 "Therefore,
my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown,
so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved." Wow! Verse
3 goes on to say... "I intreat you too , my genuine yoke-fellows,
help these two women which labored with me in the gospel,
with Clement also...". By the way that's my precious
mother's name!" Clemance. What a special woman of God
she is.
And he
continues writing to the Philippians, in the same verse: "...and
with other my fellow laborers whose names are in the book
of life." Verse 4 continues: "Rejoice in the Lord
always, and again I say, Rejoice."
This
chapter is filled with Paul rejoicing and the Philippians
being very special in the heart of Paul. A perfect picture
of Paul and Philippians, who seem to have a special partnership
in ministry. In verse 6 they were prayerful for him and thankful
in everything. Paul found these partners faithful in everything.
Their love, support, and especially their prayer for him while
he was in prison, while never forgetting him and the vision
for the Gospel. The Philippians partners were the same in
his presence and his absence. Amazing and special people of
God. The smallest yet so faithful!! So much so that Paul said
to them in Philippians 4:13-14 " I can do all things
through Christ which strengtheneth me. Notwithstanding ye
have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction."
They were there, in good times and tough times, in times of
harvest and famine.
Now we
see the most incredible verse, when Paul says to these veryspecial
Philippians partners: verse 15: "Now ye Philippians know
also, that in the beginning of the Gospel, when I departed
from Macedonia NO church communicated with me as concerning
giving and receiving, but ye only!" The only church that
stood with him like no other. What a great people that Paul
can say "but ye only." This is the only church that
was able to receive 100-fold return, that every need was met
according to their riches and glory by Christ Jesus. Verse
18: "an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable,
well pleasing to God." The Philippians partners shared
in giving for the Gospel and receiving rewards for their faithfulness,
loyalty, fellow laborers, in being partners in prayer and
giving support for work of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
These
are the great blessings the Philippians church received:
1)Phi.1:6 An abundance of promises fulfilled in your life:
"...He that
begun a good work in you will perform it..."
2)Phi.1:7 An abundance of favour in your life: "...partakers
of His
continually increasing grace."
3)Phi.1:25 An abundance of joy & faith in your life: "...received
abundant joy of faith..." v26 "...that your rejoicing
may be more
abundant in Jesus."
4)Phi 2:5 An abundance of revelation in Christ Jesus: The
spirit of
Christ and revelation of His image in them: "Let this
mind be in
you which was also in Christ Jesus."
5)Phi.3:10,14 An abundance of power in your life: "That
I may know
Him, and the power of His resurrection, the
fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable
unto His death." v.14 "I press towards the
mark for the prize of the high calling of God in
Christ Jesus."
6)Phi.4:1-10 Abundant fullness of inheritance: They received
great joy
and peace. Inheriting all blessings. Abundance in full.
7) Phi.4:19 An abundance of all provision & supply: Full
provision.
"My God shall supply all your needs according to His
riches in
Glory by Christ Jesus.
Abundance
